Bear River and Life Sciences

Bear River has worked in the life sciences arena for more than fifteen years. Today there are pharmaceutical companies that rely on our Star Receiver and BearTrack products for internal tracking of packages and assets.

Bear River has also done numerous software development projects for companies in the life sciences. The goal of most of our projects was to replace paper-based processes with computer-based solutions that supported faster workflows.

Case study: Work-In-Progress Tracking System

Bear River developed a work-in-progress tracking system for Celera, a major biotech company, to automate their lab technicians. Barcodes were attached to sample trays, lab instruments, etc. Technicians log into a mobile computer, scan the samples and instrument on which they are working. Status information is sent wirelessly to a database. The current status of each sample (and, for that matter, what each technician is doing) is stored in real-time in a database. Supervisors can view the current status of samples using a web hosted application.

Case study: Mobile CRM solution

Bear River developed a mobile CRM solution for a large biotechnology located in South San Francisco, California. Support was added version by version for different product lines and eventually the application supported the entire business development staff. Several thousand mobile computers were purchased to support this application. Bear River developed twenty releases of this business critical application.

Case study: Data analysis applications

Bear River worked with Becton Dickinson's Flow Cytometry Division to develop a series of data analysis applications. Because these applications were used in research and clinical environments they were developed in accordance with FDA regulations.
